Interlude: There Is No Spoon

Publicly challenging oneself works sometimes, and doesn’t others. It relies on the assumption that extrinsic motivation is necessary. Extrinsic motivation, of course, is sometimes necessary, since so much of what we do, we do for others, or to signal to others. But when the motivation within is large enough, we enter a “there is no spoon” state.

For the time being, we are at an interlude.

For as long as the intense, vibrant, exciting pull of the Goal that I’m currently pursuing lasts, there need be no challenges.

While this window of time lasts, there is no spoon.
